Thursday, February 6, 2025, Detectives and Troopers with the Indiana State Police (ISP) in Sellersburg arrested 39-year-old Gerald P. Hamilton of Campbellsburg on multiple charges Thursday morning after the alleged victim reported Hamilton pistol whipped him late last year.
The investigation began in September of 2024 when ISP Detective Mike Bennett received information that Hamilton allegedly injured a man by striking him in the head with a handgun while the man was standing by his car outside Hamilton’s’ residence. It was also reported that Hamilton then pointed the firearm at the man’s girlfriend as she witnessed the altercation.
The investigation included interviews with everyone involved in the alleged altercation as well as a subpoena for one of Hamilton’s social media accounts where he allegedly made statements connected with the incident. At the conclusion of the investigation, all information was presented to the Washington County Prosecutor for possible charges. On Wednesday, February 5, 2024, an arrest warrant was issued for Gerald Hamilton for one count of Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 Felony), one count of Intimidation (Level 5 Felony), and one count of Pointing a Firearm (Level 6 Felony).
Officers arrested Hamilton at his residence Thursday morning without incident. He was transported to the Washington County Jail where he is held without bond until his court appearance.
