First Baptist Church of Salem will be hosting a free, open to the public, concert by Tim Menzies on February 9. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. and run until approximately 7:30 p.m. at 200 E. Walnut St.
Born in 1959, Tim Menzies began his musical journey in the 1960s with his family band. However, the music in the family started about a decade earlier. The Menzies Family band began its roots in the 1950s when Tim's mother, Janet, fell in love with music and began singing and playing guitar. The family band simply kept growing as Janet and her husband, Walter, ended up having five children. Together, they have played for names such as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard and many others.
Tim eventually set up shop in Nashville in the 1980s after traveling around for a living. Here, he found great success in the city’s naturally bustling music industry. He proceeded to make music with the likes of Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, and Trace Adkins to name a few, and he even sang jingles for Coca-Cola.
