At approximately 12:26 p.m. on March 10, emergency responders received a call in regard to a garbage truck that had caught fire at 10218 S Becks Mill Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, I spoke with Darren Byler from the Posey Volunteer Fire Department, and he explained that one of the tires on the truck was to blame.
“Apparently he’s been dragging a tire for several miles,” said Byler. “You can see the marks on the road, so we believe that to be the cause. It does not appear to be content-inspired; it appears to be actually caused by the truck.”
The trail left by what appears to be the right rear tire can be traced for several miles all the way back to W Posey Chapel Road.
Thanks to the quick response by the Posey Volunteer Fire Department, the fire was extinguished and no one was injured.
