The IHSAA held their annual girls basketball sectional pairings show on Sunday, January 26, and all teams discovered their fate with the post season set to begin on February 4. All three county schools will play their sectionals on the road as Salem and Eastern will compete in the Class 2A Sectional 46 at Crawford County and West Washington will begin play in the Class A Sectional 63 at Borden.

The Lions (1-16) have struggled offensively this season as they are in the midst of a 16-game losing streak after winning their first game of the season 34-30 over Mitchell. The most they have scored in a game since then was 31 against South Central.

The Lions will play the second game on Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. against Lanesville, who have won two-straight Class A state titles. The Musketeers (10-11) will open up sectional play against Paoli at 6 p.m. on Feb. 4. Clarksville and Mitchell will play the second game at 7:30 p.m. continuing the first night. The host school, Crawford County, will play the first game at 6 p.m. against Providence on the second night. The semifinals will be played on Feb. 7 and the championship game is slated for Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m.

The Lions are 1-3 against sectional opponents this year as their only win was over the Bluejackets. Their losses came to Crawford County (64-20), Eastern (69-20) and Paoli (49-28). The Musketeers are 4-1 against sectional opponents as they have defeated Crawford County (43-36), Salem, Mitchell (62-11) and Clarksville (59-29). Their only loss came to Lanesville (65-46).

The Senators (10-12) will play the host school Borden at 6 p.m. on February 5. Rock Creek Academy will battle Christian Academy at 7 p.m. on February 4. Henryville will play South Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 5, and New Washington drew the bye and will play the winner of the RCA-CAI game at 6 p.m. on February 7 in the semifinals. The championship will be played at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 8.

The Senators are 2-2 against sectional opponents this year with wins over Henryville (52-43) and Rock Creek Academy (74-11). Their losses came against Christian Academy (47-39) and South Central (42-36).

The rough patch continues for the Salem Lions as they were unable to break their losing streak following the 63-12 loss against the Springs Valley Blackhawks.
