Shirley Ann (Gettelfinger) Jones
Shirley Ann (Gettelfinger) Jones, 89, of Palmyra, Indiana, passed away on October 3, 2024. She was born in Bradford, Indiana, on July 5, 1935, the daughter of Felix and Viola (Bir) Gettelfinger. Shirley was the co-owner and bookkeeper for the family dairy farm and a former 4-H club leader. She was an active member of the Harrison County Farm Bureau, Inc., serving as County Women’s Leader for nine years, and held various offices in the St. Anne’s Altar Society. She also attended the Senior Citizen Group at St. Michael Catholic Church.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Jones; her son, Roy Jones; an infant grandson, Lee Jones; her brother, Melvin Gettelfinger; and an infant sister, Mary Elizabeth. She is survived by her four sons: Robert (Shirley), Keith (Christine), Mark (Melissa), all of Palmyra, IN, and Kevin (Jolinda) of Corydon, IN; three daughters: Ruth (Thomas) Hackman of Vallonia, IN, Anita (Dean) Stumler of Fredericksburg, IN, and Linda (Andrew) Abner of Palmyra, IN; brothers: Robert (JoAnn) Gettelfinger of Jeffersonville, IN, Ernest (Diane) Gettelfinger of Lexington, KY, and Glenn (Jane) Gettelfinger of Madison, IN; sister-in-law Kaye Gettelfinger of New Albany, IN; and brother-in-law Curtis (Bill) Utz of New Albany, IN. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren, with three on the way.
Visitation will be held at Love Funeral Home, Palmyra, IN, on Friday, October 11, from 4 PM to 8 PM. Additional visitation will take place at St. Michael Church, Bradford, IN, on Saturday, October 12, from 9 AM to 10:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to St. Michael Church or the donor’s choice.
