Malvina Mae Cox Deaton
Malvina Mae Cox Deaton, 78, of Little York passed away March 2, 2025. She was born July 1, 1946, in Scottsburg to Daniel and Edna Cox. She graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1964. She met Sam Edward Deaton while working at the Park-N-Eat and they married on December 14, 1963. They were married 53 years before Sam passed away in 2017. Malvina worked 30 years at Cummins before retiring in 2003. Malvina was a member at Little York Christian Church for 55 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was very proud of her family and supported them in all of their endeavors. She loved celebrating special occasions with family and enjoyed traveling, gardening and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam E. Deaton and her parents, Daniel and Edna Cox. Survivors include; a son, Eddie (Shelley) Deaton of Scottsburg, IN; a daughter Connie Jean (Mark) Brewer of Scottsburg, Indiana; five grandchildren, Emily (Scott) Gilles, Megan (Scotty) Hurst, Courtney (John) Lord, Mallery (Trey) Haendiges and Brant Deaton (Gretchen) and eight great-grandchildren, Samuel, Stella, Sophie, Norah, Eyston, Tucker, Mabry, Hagan and one great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by two brothers, Marvin (Phyllis) Cox and Michael (Charlotte) Cox; one sister, Joyce Finch. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 9:00 am until the start of the funeral service at 11:00 am at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Caleb Tolliver officiating. Interment will follow at Scottsburg Cemetery. Memorial Contributions: Little York Scholarship Fund through the Washington County Community Foundation.
