The IHSAA just released the boys basketball sectional pairings on Sunday, Feb. 23 and West Washington will play at home in the Class A Sectional 63, while Salem and Eastern will compete in the Class 2A Sectional 46 at Paoli.
With a week left in the regular season, the post season looms large the following week with action to begin on Tuesday, March 4.
The Lions (6-14) will begin sectional play in the first game on Tuesday night, March 4 against Mitchell. The host school, Paoli, will play Crawford County in the first game on Wednesday night, March 5 and the Musketeers (6-14) will do battle with Clarksville in the second game. Providence drew the bye and will play the Salem-Mitchell winner in the first game on Friday night, March 7. The championship game is slated Saturday night, March 8.
The Lions were 3-2 against other sectional opponents this year as they defeated Mitchell (64-50), Eastern (49-46) and Clarksville (62-38). They were defeated by Eastern (46-42) and Paoli (71-44). The Musketeers were also 3-2 against sectional foes this year with wins over Crawford County (51-45), Clarksville (82-79, 2 OT) and Salem (46-42). Their losses came against Salem (49-46) and Paoli (65-25).
The Senators (6-14) will play in the first game on Wednesday night, March 5 against Christian Academy. New Washington will battle Rock Creek Academy in the second game that night. Henryville will play Borden in the first game on opening night on Tuesday, March 4, while South Central will play Lanesville in the second game. Winners will meet in the semifinals on Friday night, March 7 and the championship game on Saturday night, March 8.
The Senators were winless in six games this year against sectional opponents with losses to Borden (59-54), South Central (68-50), Lanesville (81-66), Borden (50-42), Christian Academy (74-40) and Henryville 48-43).
