  3. Houchin Announces Deportation of Illegal Alien Responsible for Fatal Crash

Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) and Jackson County Prosecutor Jeff Chalfant announced the deportation of the illegal alien responsible for the tragic death of 27-year-old Brad Castner. Thanks to the Laken Riley Act, signed into law by President Trump, dangerous illegal aliens like this one are finally being removed from American communities.

In March 2024, the illegal alien, who had previously been cited for driving without a license, crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 50 and crashed into Castner’s vehicle, killing him. For years, under the Biden administration, illegal aliens like this individual remained in the country with no consequences due to weak immigration enforcement and a refusal to deport criminal offenders.

“Brad Castner should still be alive today. His death was preventable,” said Congresswoman Houchin. “For four years, Biden’s open border policies allowed millions of illegal aliens to enter our country while the law was not enforced to remove criminals. That has changed under President Trump. Thanks to the Laken Riley Act, dangerous illegal aliens are finally being detained and deported before they can commit more crimes.”

Houchin praised Prosecutor Chalfant and ICE for their work in securing the removal of the illegal alien from Indiana and ensuring his deportation proceedings moved forward swiftly.

“There is still more work to be done to fix the damage caused by Biden’s open border policies, but this is a step in the right direction,” Houchin added. “We will continue fighting to make sure every community—from the southern border to southern Indiana—is safe from the dangers and chaos created by this border crisis.”
