The Indiana Commission for Higher Education reminds all aspiring educators the deadline for the 2025-2026 Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship is on January 31. Applications for this scholarship and additional financial aid opportunities can be found at ScholarTrack.IN.gov. Future teachers are encouraged to fill out their applications promptly to provide ample time to compile the necessary information and materials.
“The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for aspiring educators to gain skills and launch their careers right here in Indiana,” Commissioner for Higher Education Chris Lowery said. “Not only does this scholarship help students earn a degree in education, it also strengthens the talent pipeline for our state. The Commission is proud to support aspiring teachers through this scholarship.”
The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship provides top-performing high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in education the opportunity to earn a renewable scholarship of up to $10,000 per year (up to $40,000 total). In exchange, students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school or repay the corresponding, prorated amount of the scholarship. The Commission will review all applications and notify applicants of their scholarship status via email by April 2025.
"I applied for the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship to set myself up to be successful after college, and that’s exactly what earning this scholarship did for me,” Ashley Koren, a recipient of the scholarship and 2022 Ball State University graduate, said. “I was able to graduate from college as a double major with some savings in the bank while I was looking for my first teaching job. This allowed me to focus on preparing my first classroom, learning the curriculums, and getting ready to live my dream of being a teacher instead of being stressed about money. The application process is simple, and the impact of this scholarship is monumental. I highly recommend future educators to apply for this scholarship during their college journey.”
To qualify for the scholarship, students must meet one of the following academic requirements:
- Rank in the top 20 percent of their high school graduating class OR
- Have a top 20th percentile score on the ACT (25) or SAT (1130) OR
- Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
