State Sen. Gary Byrne (R-Byrneville) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse who served as Senate Pages in January and February.
- Patience Caudill, from Salem, is a homeschooled student
- Alonna Hoover, from Orleans, is a homeschooled student
- Levi Hoover, from Orleans, is a homeschooled student
- Mikah Hoover, from Orleans, is a homeschooled student
- Boaz Rances, from Scottsburg, is a homeschooled student
- Daniel Rances, from Scottsburg, is a homeschooled student
- Grace Wallace, from Campbellsburg, is a homeschooled student
- Jesse Wallace, from Campbellsburg, is a homeschooled student
- Isaiah Windell, from Corydon, attends North Harrison Middle School
- Lydia Windell, from Corydon, attends North Harrison High School
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.
"I always appreciate meeting with students from Senate District 47," Byrne said. "It's rewarding to teach young Hoosiers how the legislative process works, and I recommend the Senate Page Program to any student with even a small interest in state government."
Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
