August 26, 1952 Will Shortz, American crossword editor (New York Times), born in Crawfordsville.


 

August 28, 1808 The first corn was ground at Beck’s Mill in Washington County. Settlers from nearby Pigeon’s Roost were some of the first to come to the mill.


August 29, 1958 Michael JacksonAmerican recording artist, dancer and King of Pop, born in Gary.

 

 

August 31, 1928 Canned tomato juice was offered for the first time by the Kemp Brothers of Kokomo, in response to a physician’s need for baby food.
