The May 1 invitational was the first time many of the Salem golfers had played 18 holes, according to Head Coach Sid Dye.

He said the Lions’ inexperience was evident, but said the team is showing improvement as they head into the final month of the season.

Greenwood Christian won the event with a team score of 349 and Salem finished with a 447.

Campbell led the way for SHS with a 90. Stout carded a 120 for Salem, Smith also scored 120, Smedley had a 117 and Wilcox shot a 132.

“Campbell continues to be the steady one on the team,” Dye said. “He struggled on the first nine at the (Trinith Lutheran) invitational but put a solid score on the second nine. As we move into the last month of the season with conference and sectional approaching, we are improving but still have a long way to go.”
