The Lions have been on a bit of a losing skid as of late, and that continued on Friday night. Clarksville came to town, and using a big second and third quarter, handed the Lions a 58-41 loss to extend their losing streak to eight games.

Salem came out hot from behind the arc with two triples from Jaden Cheatwood and another from Kaiden Romero-Hembree. But Clarksville kept pace with the Lions and took a small lead. Adam Mull hit a driving layup to cut the lead down 14-13.

In the second quarter Salem went cold and allowed the Generals to take a 24-14 lead before a three from Mull snapped the 10-0 run. Cheatwood got a steal and then a score on the other end to keep Salem hanging around down 26-18.

Clarksville started to pull away late in the half by cleaning up the offensive glass, getting second chances with one trip resulting in a five point trip to push the lead out 35-18 with less than a minute to play. Braxton Dean got two from the charity stripe with 6.7 seconds left to play to try and give Salem a boost going into the break.

Romero-Hembree hit a three coming out of the half, but Salem went on another cold streak to fall behind 46-23. The Lions tried to claw their way back in the fourth quarter. Cheatwood hit another triple and a foul away from the ball gave Salem a five point trip. To make it 52-38 with just over three minutes left to play. But Salem couldn’t string together enough stops to make a dent in the lead any further.
