Love at Thunder Valley

Travis Stickels and Laura Threlkeld have been dating for three years. Travis said, “I have been telling her that I was going to propose to her one day at the race track. She always replied ‘You will never do it.’”

But on Friday night June 4, on the main stretch of Thunder Valley Raceway, he proved her wrong. In front of the crowd, he followed through with his proposal. He picked up Laura in the pits and drove her onto the track in a golf cart. She told him he was going to get in trouble, but he just kept on driving.

On the front stretch they met MMSA promoter Kevin Bare. As he started interviewing Travis, a midget driver in the organization, Bare turned the microphone over to Travis.

Travis didn’t hesitate to start telling Laura that she was his best friend and he wanted her to marry him. Laura also didn’t hesitate to say, “Yes.”

Travis and Laura both live in Bloomington and now are looking for a house big enough for their six kids.

Laura said she couldn’t figure out why their whole family showed up at this one race, but now she understands.

The couple wants to thank those at Thunder Valley who helped to arrange this life changing event.
