Ivy Tech garden dedication

On Tuesday, September 14 at 9 am., Ivy Tech Community College Sellersburg will hold a dedication ceremony for a new community garden in the campus’s Ivy Park.  The community garden was made possible through the generous support of the Duke Energy Foundation and Ivy Tech’s employee donors.

“The Duke Energy Community Garden is a wonderful addition to our campus. We hope that students, staff, faculty and the community will enjoy it as a place to socialize, study, reflect and enjoy their surroundings,” commented Dr. Travis Haire, Chancellor of Ivy Tech Sellersburg.

The garden will not only provide beautification of space on the campus, but also offers much needed respite for Monarch Butterflies as they make their journey from Mexico to Canada each fall and spring. In addition, the garden also features a memorial pathway of etched bricks to recognize and honor friends and loved ones.

“The Duke Energy Foundation is committed to investing resources and working with community partners to ensure future generations enjoy the benefits of the nature around us through projects like the monarch waystation here at Ivy Tech Community College Sellersburg,” said Lisa Huber, Government and Community Relations Manager for Duke Energy in Southern Indiana

The dedication will take place at 9 a.m. on September 14, 2021 in Ivy Park on the Ivy Tech Sellersburg campus.  The event is open to the public, and the community is encouraged to attend.
