Hometown Pizza and the John 3:16 Car Club recently co-sponsored a car show and fall celebration with all proceeds going to Washington County Youth Center fund. Their combined efforts raised nearly $900 for the center. 

 

A Salem student, Isaac Fox, will compete in the state 4-H Entomology judging contest at Purdue University. Fox won the opportunity to compete at the state level by placing first in the area contest. 

 

Sherman King of Salem got a surprise when he checked his vegetable garden and found the biggest turnips he has ever grown, weighing 2-1/2 pounds each. 

 

Hoosier Times named its Small State and Junior State football teams, with several members of the Salem High School team making the squads. Making the Small-State Special Mention team was Jared Hammack. Ben Huey and Eric Mills were named to Small State Honorable Mention team. Named to the Junior All-State Honorable Mention squad were: Luke Dean, Dave Fields, Chad Motsinger, Chad Vandeventer and R.D. Shuck.

 

During Sunday morning services at Salem First Baptist, Mary Margaret Arnold was honored for her 40 years of dedicated service as Treasurer to the church. Mayor Doug Campbell presented her with a plaque.

 

Bryce and Truly Floyd of K&E Market and Rhonda Greene of Greene Woodworking and Glass, attended glass slumping classes at Delphi Stained Glass in Michigan.
