Zenneth Caudill

Zenneth "Zen" Caudill, 75, died on Jan. 8, 2022, at his home in Salem.  He was born on Feb. 8, 1946, in Whitesburg, Kentucky to the late Arthur Caudill and Dove (Ison) Caudill.  Born again, John 3:3, Dec. 20, 2021.

An Army veteran and retired City of Seymour firefighter, his love of the outdoors was only surpassed by his love of helping others, no matter the need.  A humble man, who spoke more with his actions than his words.  A multiskilled craftsman, his process for cooking sorghum molasses and yearly cook-offs brought him the most joy and satisfaction.  Zen hosted the Great Washington County Shootout at his cabin since 1986, in which he was a multiple winner.

Zen was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Darlis Caudill, and a sister, Dana Howard.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Vanbebber, who he married on April 1, 1970.  He is also survived by a daughter, Zanya Caudill, a son, Matthew (Desiree) Caudill; grandchildren, Kendra, Lydia, Claudia, and Patience; one sister, Joy Woodson and two brothers, Jasper (Brenda) Caudill and Wendell (Frieda) Caudill and several nieces and one great-nephew.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 until 6 p.m. when a Military Flag Presentation will be conducted.  A private burial will be held at the Caudill Family Cemetery in Whitesburg, Kentucky.
