Vonda Mae Wesner

Vonda Mae Wesner, 96, of Marion, Ohio, “graduated to Glory” and was reunited with her beloved husband, Ellis, and family on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Kingston Residence.
On Jan. 29, 1927, Vonda was born in Daviess County, the older of two children of the late Victor Luther Pearl Kelso and Eula Delphia (Burris) Kelso.
She grew up near Mitchell, where she graduated from the town’s high school. She furthered her education at the Cincinnati Bible Seminary, where she earned her Bachelors in Sacred Literature degree in 1951.
While attending CBS, Vonda met her future husband, World War II Army Veteran Ellis Earl Wesner, whom she married on May 23, 1948. Vonda was the quintessential preacher’s wife who faithfully served God with Ellis at the Syria Christian Church near Orleans, the Rising Sun Church of Christ in Indiana, the Southwood Church of Christ in Columbus, Ohio, and the Mt. Vernon Ave. Church of Christ in Marion, Ohio. She was also the secretary at the Round Lake Christian Camp near Lakeville, Ohio, where Ellis served as the coordinator from 1968 to 79.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Mark (Jenifer) Wesner of North Port, Florida, and Marla (Scott) Tipton of Shreve, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Annie Tipton, Nathan (Keri) Tipton, Makenna (Ryan) Edgington, Emma, Mia, Jenna and Makaela Wesner; three great-grandchildren, Henry and Hailey Tipton and Wesley Edgington; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Kelso Noblitt; a brother-in-law, Wayne Wesner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her husband and parents, Vonda was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Kelso.
Her family looks forward to greeting friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mt. Vernon Ave. Church of Christ, 947 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion, Ohio 43302.
Visitation hours in southern Indiana will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at Syria Christian Church, 2444 N. County Rd. 300 E, Orleans, IN 47452, where services honoring her life will follow at 3:30 p.m., with her nephew, Minister Nelson Lee, officiating. Burial will follow in the graveyard beside the church.
