Viola Schuler

Viola Schuler, 93, of New Castle passed away Saturday, July 16, 1022 at Addison Place in New Castle.

She was born May 16, 1929 in Salem, Indiana, a daughter of the late Sidney L. and Cleopal (Houston) Denny.
Viola received her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from Purdue University in 1952, Master’s Degree in Education from Ball State University in 1963 and her Associate of Science in Human Services from Indiana University in 1989. She taught several different classes at Salem Schools, New Castle High School, New Castle Middle School, New Castle Elementary Schools and Special Education.
Viola was involved in various organizations, including Alpha Delta Kappa, Daughters of American Revolution, Farm Couples and attended First Christian Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing and cooking. Viola loved and cared for any needy animal that found its way to her door.
Survivors include four sons, Robert F. “Frank” (Nicki) Schuler, Dennis J. (Marcia) Schuler, Thomas A. (Carol) Schuler and John M. (Christine) Schuler; grandchildren, Kristen (Scott) Mann, Ryan (Kelly) Schuler, Elizabeth Schuler, Andrew Schuler and Chloe Schuler; and a great granddaughter, Reagan Schuler.
In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Schuler and a sister, Janet Ruth Denny.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Mt. Summit Cemetery with Pastor Mark Herbkersman officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
