Sandra Kay “Sandy” Harshfield

Sandra Kay “Sandy” Harshfield, 67, Corydon, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.  

She was born Aug. 21, 1953, in Salem.  

Sandy was a nurse practitioner and Professor of Pediatrics at Galen College of Nursing in Louisville, formerly taught at Spencerian College and at the University of Louisville, worked as a nurse at Kosair Children’s Hospital, and was a member of IBRA (International Barrel Racing Association) and KMWBRA (Kentucky Men’s and Women’s Barrel Racing Association).

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald R. Wills; her husband, James E. “Jim” Harshfield; her step-grandson, Steven Summers; and her step-great-granddaughters, Marissa and Brynlee Summers.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Jane Wiseman (Ray)Atkins of Clarksville; her son, Donald E. (Victoria) Harshfield of Lanesville; her daughter, Crystal S. Petit of Jacksonville, North Carolina; her step-son, James D. (Keri) Harshfield of Corydon; her step-daughter, Dawn D. (Steve) Summers of New Middletown; her brothers, Carter L. Wills of Salem, and Donnie R. (Teresa) Wills of Fredericksburg; her grandchildren, Ethan and Kira Petit; and her step-grandchildren, Lindsey and Madison Summers, and David, Sam, Luke and Isabelle Harshfield.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Mark Lindsey will officiate.  Burial will be in Pfrimmer’s Chapel Cemetery near Corydon.  

Visitation will be from 12 – 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
