Robert Eugene Massey, 82, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at his home in Salem.

Born July 15, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of Clyde W, and Pauline Allen Massey.

He was married to Phyllis Elaine Grossman Massey for over 40 years.  She preceded him in death on June 9, 2022.

Also preceding him in death was a sister, Shirley Massey Hanna; a half-brother, Truman Massey; a step-son, Stephen J. Green; a brother-in-law, Rodger J. Grossman; and his parents.

Bob was a professional drummer his entire life, playing with numerous bands throughout the United States. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf.

He was a member of Highland Park Lodge No, 865 of Louisville, Kentucky, and was a 50-year member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky F. & A.M., A & A. Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and Kosair Shriners.

Surviving are a step-son, David Wayne Green, of Honolulu, Hawaii; two step-grandsons, John David (Melissa) Rader and Sammy Rader, all of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two step-great-granddaughters, Kerstyn Rader and Paetyn Rader, Chattanooga, TN; a sister-in-law, Carolyn S. Grossman of Salem; a niece, Nancy Grossman (Mel Green), Salem; and a nephew, Schuyler Grossman, Salem.

Bob was especially grateful for the assistance of numerous caregivers and the staff of Interim Palliative Care and Interim Hospice.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m.Thursday at Dawalt Funeral Home, 204 East Market Street, Salem.  A Masonic service and funeral service will begin at 7 p.m.  Interment will  be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem.
