Opal Faye McCoy

On Thursday, November 9, 2023, Opal Faye McCoy, loving wife to the late John Milton McCoy, passed away at the age of 95. She was born on June 2, 1928, in Washington County, Indiana, and she was the daughter of T.W. and Clora (Powell) Mobley, both of whom preceded her in death.
Opal and John married on May 26, 1962, at the First Baptist Church of Salem, in what was described in the local paper as “quiet, impressive rites”.
Opal and John were long-time members of Brownstown Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. McCoy worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several businesses throughout her lifetime. She was a member of Tri Kappa, and she loved playing bridge, reading, and doing word search puzzles.
Survivors include three sisters: Bonnie (Herb) Worley of Louisville, Kentucky, Hazel Eckler of Pittsboro, and Thelma (Carl) Foreman of Danville; two brothers: James (Linda) Mobley of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Paul (Jenny) Mobley of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Also, preceding Opal in death were three brothers: Basil Mobley, Ralph Mobley, and Willie Mobley; and five sisters: Virginia Gross, Marie Gross, Ruby Bowling, Pauline Bartle, and Lois Mobley.
Funeral services for Opal Faye McCoy will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with James (J.C.) Blankenbeker officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown.
Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem.
Donations in Opal’s memory may be made to Donor’s choice.
