Martha Killey

Martha Killey, 83, Brownstown, died Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 21, 1940, in Norman, she was the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Williams Adams, both of whom preceded her in death.  
On July 26, 1958, in Bedford, she married Glen M. Killey.
She was a member of Brownstown Christian Church.  She had a strong faith, and she loved her church.
Matha loved her family dearly, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed genealogy, attending the Jackson County Fair and camping with her family and friends. Martha and her husband were members of the Night Owl Camping Club.
Martha worked at the Frostop in Brownstown, was office manager at Marion Kay and she also worked at several telephone companies, retiring from Contel. Martha was also a volunteer at the Jackson County History Center for many years.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Paul “Bo” (Lydia) Killey, Brownstown; daughter-in-law, Patsy Killey (Marcus) Hess; one brother, Dennis G. (Judy) Adams; one sister, Janie Adams (David) Starks; brother-in-law, Ronald Hanner; grandchildren, Nicole (David) Griffin, Fishers, Nick (Lyndsay) Hudson, Seymour, Nathan (fiancé Erin) Killey, Appleton, Wisconsin, Natalie (Ben) Velzen, Allendale, Michigan, and Noah (fiancé Elizabeth) Killey, Denver, Colorado and great-grandchildren, Mason Hudson, Sutton Hudson, Porter Hudson, Jack Griffin, Bo Griffin, and Theodore Mark Velzen.
Besides her parents, Martha was preceded in death by one son, Mark Killey and two sisters, Gail Hanner and Edith Hall.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Brownstown Christian Church with Pastor Mitchell McIntyre officiating.  Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Brownstown Christian Church.
Interment will follow at Vallonia Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Jackson County History Center or Brownstown Christian Church-Move the Mountain.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
