Marie Lowery

Marie Lowery, age 78, of Salem passed away Wednesday, September 8 at St. Vincent Salem.

Marie Lowery was born August 9, 1943 in Cooper, Texas the daughter of Elmer and Claudia Killibrew Holmes. She was a member of Northside Christian Church. She was the Retired Owner of McDonalds.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ben Lowery on January 2, 1998. She is also preceded by a brother: Elmer Joe Holmes, a sister: Dorothy Pennix, and her parents.

Marie is survived by two sons: Monte Lowery (Ree) of Seabrook, TX, and Jeremy Lowery (Brianne) of Salem, a daughter: Shannon Wroblewski (Brian) of Salem, four sisters: Betty Brewer of Highlands, TX, Nada Crouch of Sulphur Springs, TX, Margaret Eudy of Cooper, TX, and Judy Petty of Sulphur Springs, TX, and seven grandchildren: Jordyn, Lee, and Tanner Wroblewski, Reese and Ben Lowery, and Macy and Maddox Lowery.

Marie or as everyone loved to call her, Granny, would tell you her greatest legacy is her family. She lived her life putting her children and grandchildren at the forefront of everything. She also was known to be a fabulous cook and an avid sports fan.

Her faith was undeniable. Our family is at peace knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven with our dad. She recently said that September was a difficult month for her because of the many heavenly birthdays. Now, she is there to celebrate with them. We are heartbroken but our mom said it best, “How sweet Heaven must be.”

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 14 at First Christian Church in Salem. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 2-7PM at Weathers Funeral Home, and on Tuesday from 9AM-until time of service at the church.
