Lois (Huckleberry) Fawbush

Lois (Huckleberry) Fawbush, 93, a lifelong resident of Scottsburg, passed away on May 5, 2022, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany. She was born on Jan. 15, 1929, to the late Roscoe Huckleberry and the late Gladys (Rutherford) Huckleberry. She was a member of Mt. Hebron Church for the past 7 years and prior to that was a lifelong member of Little York Methodist Church.

Lois will forever be remembered as a loving, determined, proud lady that was always well kept and lived her life with a high work ethic, making sure things were always clean and orderly. She enjoyed playing euchre, solitaire and later in life putting together puzzles. She was a wonderful cook and the family will forever treasure her salisbury steak, scrambled eggs and bologna and especially her chocolate pie that was always made with a homemade crust. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and fishing right outside her back door in her own pond.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Marr and her husband, Don of Scottsburg; four grandchildren, Donetta Swift and her husband, Skip of Scottsburg, Debbie Combs of Scottsburg, Wayne Marr of Borden and Jason Marr and his wife, Kara of Floyd Knobs; three great-grandchildren, C. J. Swift, Sophia Marr and Athena Marr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Verne Fawbush, one infant daughter, Gail Lee Fawbush and two infant sons, a brother, Max Huckleberry and a sister, Linda McCameron.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, from 4 until 7 p.m. with a Sunset Celebration of Life Service to begin at 7 p.m. at Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Sweeney officiating.

A private family burial will be held on Tuesday morning, May 17, at Fawbush - Marr Pioneer Cemetery in Scottsburg.
