Helen Fay Byerly

Helen Fay (Crane) Byerly, 92, Palmyra, passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 27, 2021. She was born in Orleans on May 31, 1929, to Charles Newton and Bethel Daisy (Young) Crane. Helen married Delmond “Ray” Byerly on Aug. 11, 1950, and enjoyed 71 wonderful years together.

She graduated from Hardinsburg High School. Helen worked at the Box Factory in New Albany and was a loving mother and homemaker. She is a member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church. Helen enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, sewing, painting on canvas and saws, and loved spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Edith Cooper and twin sister, Ellen May Maupin; three brothers, James Edward Crane, Marvin Kenneth Crane, and Charles Oscar Crane.

Helen is survived by her husband; a son, Garry Allen (Sharon) Byerly; two daughters, Juanita (Jerry) Love and Vivian Byerly; two brothers, Arvil Leon Crane and Olen Emerson Crane; four grandchildren, Kelly Revard, Keith (Angel) Byerly, Daniel (Jacquelyn) Love, and Derek (Nicole) Love; nine great-grandchildren; as well as her loving caregivers, Wanda Patton, Connie Halas, and Della Huett.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 2  to 8 p.m. and again on Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Helen’s name to Palmyra United Methodist Church, 13855 N. Martin Mathis Rd. NE, Palmyra, IN 47164.
