Deborah Lynn Jarrell

Deborah Lynn "Mamma" Jarrell, 71, Salem, formerly of Austin, died Monday, June, 5, 2023, at her residence with family members by her side.
She was born Feb. 19, 1952, in Louisville, to William John Perkins and Virginia L. (Rose) Perkins.
She was a 1970 graduate of PRP High School in Louisville.

Since 2018, Deborah enjoyed her membership with her church family at Turning Point Church in Scottsburg. She loved flowers, digging in the dirt, nature, outdoors, gardening, and canning vegetables. Decorah was a homemaker and deeply loved her family--teaching them that “family is everything”; always being  “hands on” with her family. She had a strong faith in God and renewed her walk with God in 2019. She was a strong, nurturing, loving, intelligent woman with a contagious laugh and sparkling blue eyes. Her treatment of people caused people to be drawn to call her “Momma”.

Survivors include her daughters, Nikki (Anthony) Spicer, Austin and Sarah L. (Bradley) Davis, Salem; a grandson, Dylan Jarrell, Salem; sister, Carolyn Snellen, Louisville and father of her children and lifelong companion, Ralph Jarrell, DePauw. Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers, Jim Perkins, Steve Perkins and Paul Perkins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Turning Point Church, 899 W. McClain Ave., Scottsburg. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 p.m. until time of service at the church. Pastor Jon Jackson will officiate.
Christensen Family Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
