Carl Lee Padgett, age 79, of Salem passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Wedgewood Healthcare Center in Clarksville. Born March 10, 1944 in Salem, he was the son of the late Carl H. Padgett and Hattie (Guthery) Padgett. On November 9, 2019, he married Warrenett (Mahuron) Padgett who survives. Carl was a dock foreman at the former Bata Shoe Company; owner of the former P&P Supplies from 1984 to 2005; Vietnam War veteran having served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968; member of the Coon Hunters Club; and the Campbellsburg Conservation Club. He is survived by his wife, Warrenett Padgett; 3 children: Jared Gilstrap (Misty Daulton), Levi Gilstrap (Abby Boger), and Kishia King; 1 step-brother: Joey Padgett; 5 grandchildren: Kylee Purlee, Nevaeh King, Lexis Gilstrap, Mason Gilstrap, and Ashton Gilstrap; niece, Kim Wingler; and nephew, Bill Batchler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl H. and Hattie Padgett, and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home-Salem Chapel. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery will full military honors. www.hughestaylor.net
