Byron B. Benham

Byron B. Benham, 75, of Garden Springs Dr., Mt. Sterling, Kentucky died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was born in Salem on March 13, 1946, the son of the late Carl Benham and the late Jessie L. Wilson Jones.  He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and he was a former National Programs Director for Green Thumb, Inc. headquartered in Washington, D.C., under the sponsorship of National Farmers’ Union.  Responsibilities included administration of 26 states and Puerto Rico and D.C. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.   

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Cassidy Benham of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; three sons, Ryan (Marina) Benham of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Andrew (Kelly) Morrison of Louisville,  and Scott Benham of Salem; three daughters, Heather McGuire and Rebecca (Mark) McDaniel of Lexington, Kentucky and Greta Morrison of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; three brothers, Timothy Benham of Georgetown, Douglas Hall (Sarah) of Ocala, Florida and Robert Hall of Petaluma, California; two sisters, Carletta McKinney of Salem and Lawanna (Steve) Schneck of Little York; seven grandchildren, Emma Morrison, Luke Morrison, Grace Morrison, Mariah Benham, Jacob Benham, Jerrod McGuire, and Addam Hughes; and one great grandchild, Lilly Hughes.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Kaywood Jones; two brothers, Larry Benham and Gary Benham, and a sister, Shirley Godfrey.

A Funeral Mass was held on January 5, 2022 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, with Father Frank Brawner officiating and burial following in the St. Thomas Cemetery.
