Billy Wayne Noland, 73, Seymour, died at his home surrounded by his family on the early morning of April 29, 2023.
Billy was born in Pekin on Dec. 23, 1949. He was the fifth born to the late Forest P. and Cora M. (Scribner) Noland.
Billy grew up in Washington County and met his wife, Marva (Crady) Noland at a 4th of July dance. They were united in marriage on June 13, 1967.
In 1971, he joined the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 68th Engine Company of Ft. Bliss, Texas and was ordered to serve in Germany. Billy was a family man, so he packed his family up and headed to Germany. After leaving Germany, he settled back in Pekin and further served for the Indiana National Guard.
Billy became a man of many skills. He went to work for the Eastern Washington School Corporation in Pekin as a custodian. He also worked for Super Fitness, traveling back and forth from Indianapolis to Louisville. After traveling on the road, he decided to try a new adventure and became a truck driver. Billy drove for several years until his retirement.  
Billy was a devoted husband, loving father and papaw to his grandchildren. He was an outdoorsman and loved fishing. Billy was a member of the Saddle Club of Pekin. He loved riding horses and spent many beautiful days on the horse trails. Billy loved softball. He became a coach for his children and grandchildren. He also would give advice to his great-grandchildren on how to play the game.
He leaves loving memories with his wife of over 65 years; daughters, Donna (Mark) Hobson, Seymour and Melissa (Michael) Long, Salem; grandchildren, Marvin Noland, Jr, Wesley (Brittini) Hunt, Marissa (Jeremy) Hatchett, Amber (Carl Daulton) Dunn, Logan (Andrea) Dunn, Michael Hobson, Gunnar (Lyndsey) Hobson, Skylar Hobson, Taylor (Dustin) Day and Nolan Long;16 great-grandchildren; sisters Anna Mae Brock, Tennessee, Judy Thompson and Nancy (Mike) Purlee, both of Salem, Melinda Pennington, Scottsburg; a brother, Jessy Noland, Pekin and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Noland and brothers, Jim Scribner and Dan Noland
A celebration of Billy’s life was held May 13, at Hague Funeral Home of Medora. Pastor Matt Roberts officiated.
Billy’s Final Salute was presented by the U.S. Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Vets 47, and the Vietnam Vets 7.
Memorials may be in written in Billy’s name to the American Legion.
