Bert William Ayres
Bert William Ayres, age 75 of Salem, Indiana passed away Monday, December 30, 2024 at 6:15 pm, in his residence.
Born August 11, 1949 in Arlington, Virginia, he was the son of the late Aubrey Ayres Sr. and Annie (Kidwell) Ayres.
He retired from Peerless Gear of Salem in 2020, was a former employee at JayC Foods, worked in HVAC electrical maintenance and was a man of many trades.
He attended the First Christian Church of Scottsburg.
On December 16, 1983 he married Brenda S. (Hardin) Ayres, who survives.
Also surviving are: 2 Daughters: Mary Beth (Nick) Brewer of Jeffersonville and Becky (Alex) Garrett of Salem; 3 Sisters: Mary Ayres and Ruth Dixon of Virginia and Betty Brown of Salem; 2 Brothers: Samuel and Donnie Ayres of Virginia and 9 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother: Aubrey Ayres Jr.
Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Friday at Dawalt Funeral Home with Marc Carr officiating.
Visitation: 4 to 7 pm Thursday and 11 am until the time of the service on Friday.
Interment will be at Franklin Cemetery with full military honors.
