Conrad Baker Russell
Mr. Conrad Baker Russell, age 93, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, January 21.
Mr. Russell was born March 17, 1931 in Salem the son of Charley and Mary Pearl Maudlin Russell. He was a farmer all of his life and a member of Smedley Church of Christ.
Conrad came from humble beginnings, raising pigs in his younger years, and later in life he enjoyed raising cattle, and the two white sheep that showed up at his house one day. He loved attending multiple Farmaid concerts in places such as Washington D.C., Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville. Conrad also enjoyed history and witnessing that history at Arlington National Cemetery. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County having only lived in three places all within a half a mile of each other on beeline road.
Conrad was preceded in death by his wife: Loretta Howard Russell, a son: Jerry Russell, three brothers: Leroy Russell, Newton Russell and Charles Russell, two sisters: Marjorie Denien and Mildred Deweese, and one great-granddaughter.
Conrad is survived by two sons: Terry Russell of Salem and Larry Russell of Campbellsburg, four daughters: Stella Lockard of Salem, Connie Nichols (Trent) of Salem, Rita Lewis (Jerral) of Salem and Tammie Quinlin of Salem, 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren as well as several step- grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11AM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Mt. Zion Cemetery, due to weather conditions. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8PM and Saturday from 9AM-time of service.
