Local destination makes appearance on WHAS11 Great Day Live

The television crews from WHAS11 recently made the trek to Beck’s Mill and featured the historic destination on their program Great Day Live. The segment appeared on the July 13, morning broadcast. Angie Ulm and Raymond Lee, Friends of Beck’s Mill members, represented the mill in period costumes.

Lee told viewers that in addition to the blacksmith shop and the carpenter’s shop, the mill still grinds white and yellow cornmeal and grits. Those commodities are for sale in the mill gift shop and Nana’s This ‘N That on the Salem Square. Lee said of the early settlers, “They (early settlers) knew to make a living year round."

Ulm encouraged those watching who love nature and history to come visit the mill. “Beck’s Mill is a place that is just full of history. We would love for people to come out and see what we are all about,” Ulm said.

Starting Aug. 1, the mill will be open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. They will continue this through Octoberfest, Oct. 23 and 24.
