On Tuesday, June 11, at approximately 7:02 p.m., Washington County sheriff's deputies and emergency response personnel were dispatched to the area of 4672 Hardinsburg Livonia Road in reference to a motorcycle accident with injuries involving a deer. 
 
Investigators at the scene determined that Roy Rutherford, age 53 of Orleans,  was traveling south on Hardinsburg Livonia Road, on a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle, when he struck a deer that was attempting to cross the roadway.
 
Rutherford was not ejected from the motorcycle and was able to come to a complete stop, but sustained injuries. Rutherford was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
 
Rutherford was transported to University of Louisville Hospital by AirMethods for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. 
 
Deputy Hailee Lopotosky is the investigating officer and was assisted by Lt. Wayne Blevins, the Washington County Ambulance Service and members of the Livonia Volunteer Fire Department.
