Write a comment

Indiana Department of Transportation’s (INDOT) budget is set through the General Assembly for Fiscal Year 2024, the budget stands at $3.7 billion. 82 percent of INDOT’s state revenue comes from fuel taxes, with 18 percent derived from other state sources. 60 percent of INDOT’s total revenue comes from the state, while the federal government funds the rest. Washington County is in the Seymour District. Coming up in Washington Co. are three projects. The bridges will receive what is called a “bridge thin deck overlay.” In this process, polymer is applied to the bridge in ¼ to ½ inches to seal existing cracks and embedded aggregate is applied. These coating will decrease wear and add skid resistance.

There are three bridges that will get this treatment. One of the three will be on SR 60 1.06 miles North of SR 160, the cost is $37,248. The second one listed is also on SR 60 over Market St. The estimate investment for that is $53,967. The third is on SR 60 1.22 miles north of SR 160 over West Fork of Blue River costing $151,291. These projects are scheduled for the third quarter of 2024.

Indiana Department of Transportation has a website https://www.in.gov/indot/. This is new customer service line that the motorist can get updates, report problems on the road, potholes, winter situations and construction. The phone number for INDOT is 1-855-463-6848.
