BEREA, OH (10/16/2024)-- Maggie Gibson of Salem (47167) was among over 660 first-year students welcomed to the Baldwin Wallace (BW) University campus this fall who earned more than $12.6 million in merit scholarships. Gibson, a graduate of Salem High School majoring in sport management, earned a $12,000 BW Yellow Jacket Success Grant based on outstanding academic achievements in high school.
BW's merit scholarships are awarded to full-time students and are renewable for up to four years with good academic and social standing. BW offers a wide range of financial support to its students - more than $60 million for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Congratulations to West Washington Senior Ryli Skinner!
Her art was selected from submissions across the state for the "I Voted" sticker competition. Her artwork will be printed and distributed at polling locations across the state! In addition, she will be honored at the state house.
Secretary of State Diego Morales said, "I am incredibly proud of the young Hoosiers who participated in the 'I Voted' Sticker Design Contest. Creativity and enthusiasm for our election process shine through each design, showcasing that the future of our state is bright. Congratulations to our winners - you've made a positive mark on Indiana's elections with your artwork."
Clerk of Courts Stephanie Rockey also congratulated Skinner.
“In our crazy election news world it is refreshing to see coverage putting light on the talented youth of our great state,” said Rockey. “Along with Indiana’s Secretary of State Diego Morales, I am pleased to announce that one of Washington County’s talented students from West Washington High School has been awarded first place. Congrats to Ryli Skinner on her award winning 'I Voted' Sticker design."
Secretary Morales has invited the first place winners from each age group and their parents to visit their Indiana Statehouse on October 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Second and third place designs will be displayed on the Indiana Secretary of State website as well on social media. All three top winners from each category are to receive a certificate.
West Washington digital communications students have created a video informing viewers of the benefits of enrolling in West Washington and taking advantage of the Indiana Early College Site status that the school holds. Boasting up to 150 college credits available, watch the video below to see how West Washington can give a jump start to the college process.
