With the final week of the regular season on boys basketball coming up, the IHSAA released it’s sectional pairings on Sunday night, February 17 as all three county teams will begin this postseason on the road.
Salem will play in the Class 3A Sectional 30 at Scottsburg, Eastern will play the Class 2A Sectional 46 at Southwestern (Hanover) and West Washington will play the Class A Sectional 61 at Borden.
The Lions (3-18) will begin sectional play on Tuesday night, Feb. 27 against Silver Creek (12-8 in the game. North Harrison (2-18) will play Scottsburg (17-5) in the first game on Wednesday night, Feb. 28 and Charlestown (11-9) will tangle with Corydon Central (10-12) in the second game. Madison (6-15) drew the bye and will play the winner of the Salem-Silver Creek game on Friday, March 1.
The championship game is slated for Saturday night, March 2.
The Lions were 0-4 this year against sectional opponents as they were defeated by Scottsburg (82-31), North Harrison (68-56), Silver Creek (79-44) and Corydon Central (54-34). Scottsburg are the returning sectional champions from last year.
The Musketeers (10-11) will begin their trek in the sectional on Tuesday night in the first game against Providence (16-3). Clarksville (8-12) will play the host team Southwestern (Hanover) (19-3) in the first game on Wednesday night and Henryville (7-13) will play Brownstown Central (19-4) in the second game that night. Austin (7-14) drew the bye and will play the Eastern-Silver Creek winner in the first game on Friday night.
The sectional finals is set for Saturday night and Brownstown Central and the defending sectional champs from last year.
The Musketeers went 2-2 this year against sectional opponents. They lost to Clarksville (56-36) and Brownstown Central (77-38), but defeated Austin (71-55) and Henryville (75-55).
The Senators (7-12) will play Christian Academy of Indiana (18-4) in the first game on Tuesday night, while Lanesville (3-16) will play South Central (14-5) in the second game. Rock Creek Academy (10-10) drew the first bye and will play the West Washington-CAI winner in the first game on Friday night and Borden (14-8) drew the second bye and will play the winner of the Lanesville-South Central game in the second game on Friday night. The two winners from Friday night will play in the finals on Saturday night.
Rock Creek Academy is the reigning sectional champs from last year.
The Senators were 3-3 against sectional opponents this year as they defeated Lanesville (57-40, 54-27) and Christian Academy (57-56 in overtime). They were defeated by Borden (48-38, 44-34) and South Central (66-55).
