A group of local musicians “band together” Saturday, April 12 to bring the “sound of the Supper Club” to local audiences, as the “Bohemian Supper Club (BSC) Orchestra” performs at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center located at 500 N Harrison St, Salem.

The 19th reprise of this annual event is sponsored by the Salem Education Foundation, with proceeds earmarked for scholarship funds. Last year’s concert raised $5,000 for local students.

Most all the performers are alumni and veterans of the popular “Bohemian Supper Club” events produced by the Salem Choirs in recent years, and Musical Director Bill Spencer-Pierce promises a great show.

“We have a terrific line-up of outstanding lead vocalists, featuring headliners Dani Williams, Ian Hartsook, A’ndrea Snyder, Zack Turner, Melea Alexander, and Brian Houston,” said Spencer-Pierce.

Doubling on instruments and vocals are Devan Grigsby, Nathan Smith, Kameron Gumaelius, Zek Morris, and Sound Director Dan Mullins. Previous BSC soloists Lexus Hoskins, Jillian Reed, and Katie Hobbs will team up to provide the all-important back-up vocals.

The show is not only designed to feature the vocalists, but a starring role for the band, which includes a smoking hot six-piece horn section. A cast and crew of thirty are donating their time and talents in producing the two-hour show, with many traveling a considerable distance.

Selections include popular numbers from the ‘60s to the present, with an emphasis on jazz-flavored rock and pop. Colorful and unique orchestration is a point of emphasis of the show, say organizers.

“We have so many talented people on board,” Spencer-Pierce remarked. “We want to showcase the whole spectrum of talent. It creates a lot of nice instrumental combinations and solo spots.”

The band’s nucleus includes Cameron Foutch and Matt Adkins on guitars, Zek Morris on bass, with David Spencer-Pierce and Axel Root on percussion. Nathan Smith, Devan Grigsby, and Spencer-Pierce provide keyboard support along with SHS Choir Director Lori Tharp.

Horns include Brandon Johnson, Brook Reindollar, Sam Bortka, Chris Karkovsky, Bill Laughlin, and SHS Band Director Brittany Hildenbrand. This year, SHS Choir Alum Lydia Bontrager serves as MC.

The family-friendly event starts at 7:15 p.m., Saturday, April 12 at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center on the Salem Middle School campus. All seats are $10, and tickets go on sale March 1 at Mid-Southern Savings Bank, Salem Apothecary, Loy & Fordyce Insurance, Salem High School, and online at EventBrite.com.

SHS Guidance Director Jennifer Martin coordinates the event for the Salem Education Foundation, with assistance from SHS Choir alumnus Abby Corbin and others.
