Branching out with new Ivy Tech program

Treasure Lehman, on stairs, and Gabby Campbell, are participating in a new program at Ivy Tech, geared toward individuals with Downs Syndrome.

Ivy Tech in Sellersburg has partnered with Downs Syndrome of Louisville to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to achieve a higher level of education and improve their chances of being self-sufficient. The program is entitled, Ivy Power and two young ladies, one from Pekin and the other from New Albany, are blazing the trail.
Gabby Campbell is a graduate of Eastern High School and Treasure Lehman graduated from New Albany High School.
Ivy Tech explains the class, “Research has shown that participation in higher education not only improves social awareness and confidence for these individuals, but also their ability to obtain and sustain meaningful employment.”
Both girls are finishing their first 8-week class.
