Wooden Dreams

What I have found in the passing of years

Is to carve out your dreams; make dust of your fears.

Don’t forgo the hammer because someone said…

Take aim and strike; hit the nail on the head.

Don’t think there won’t be hard knots mixed within.

Just back up and muscle up and pound it again.

Dreams aren’t just movies that play in your head.

They jar us to wake us to opportunities ahead.

Our lives are like logs when you peel back the bark.

Some straight and light; some knurly and dark.

Some built for strength; some used to make art.

But crucial to others when they do their part.

Logs can’t change themselves into things, so it seems.

So God gave them carpenters, and to carpenters he gave dreams.
