27 republicans, 10 democrats have filed for the May primary

Candidates continue to sign up for the 2018 Primary Election.

Several new names have been added to the list since last week’s report.

Current Washington County Prosecuting Attorney Dustin Houchin has filed to keep his seat. As of now, he is unopposed.

Republicans Tim Rodman and Terri Graves will face each other for the county recorder seat in May. Democrat Lindsey Robbins has filed for the seat on the democratic ticket. She is currently unopposed for the primary.

Republican Randall “Randy” Bills, the current county auditor, has filed to keep his position. He is currently unopposed.

Republican Wayne Blevins entered the sheriff’s race. He will face republican candidate Roy Overshiner in May. Brent Miller is still the only democrat who has filed for sheriff.

Republicans Todd Ewen and Preston Shell will vie for the republican nomination for Commissioner District 2. No one has filed on the democratic ticket.

Republican Sabrina Burdine has joined the race for the County Council District 1 seat. Fellow republicans also seeking county council seats are: John Revels, for District 2, and Jason Nelson for District 4.

Several candidates have filed for township trustee positions and township advisory boards. No democrats have filed for county council seats.

At the state level, current State Senator for District 47 Republican Erin Houchin has filed for re-election. Also, current State Representative District 73 Republican Steve Davisson has also filed.

Democrats Liz Watson and Dan Canon have both filed for US Congress, 9th District.

The last day to file for an open seat is Feb. 9. The primary will be held May 8.
