Due to the events of this past weekend, which makes the start to our initial story about the carnival almost laughable, the carnival was cancelled and rescheduled for this coming Thursday, May 25, from 5 to 9 p.m.
There will still be food and drinks for sale, a basket raffle, bounce houses and more fun, along with band and choir performances and Campbellsburg Little League games. Fireworks will be set off at 9 p.m.
Here’s hoping the current forecast for Saturday is overblown, but even if we do get the thunderstorms and 80 percent chance of precipitation, it won’t stop the West Washington Spring Carnival. All the fun, which starts at 2 p.m., will move inside.
The carnival, well-attended these past three years, is held to commemorate the end of the school year and mark the almost-start of summer. Softball and baseball games are scheduled, but may not be able to continue depending on the weather, but the grilled food, drinks, games, face-painting, live music, Stroll Down Memory Lane, Walk of Fame and other activities for kids and adults are planned to continue, rain or shine.
The PTO is once again holding a silent auction for themed gift baskets, contributed to by each elementary grade level. Baskets themes include Family Fun Night, camping, a movie night, Fun in the Sun, cooking and baking, Senator Pride, gardening and a reading basket.
