City residents are encouraged to attend a special meeting to learn about possible upgrades to the city’s water utility as well as the impact it could have on water rates.
The meeting is planned for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Council Chambers at City Hall.
Mayor Troy Merry said the special meeting was needed so the city’s residents could learn about upgrades needed at the city’s aging water treatment plant at Lake John Hay.
“It’s going to be a costly project, but it’s something that’s needed,” Merry said.
Last April, the council contracted with Wessler Engineering, an Indianapolis professional consulting firm, to evaluate the lake’s water plant and recommend what work is needed, including security enhancements.
The results of a water rate study will also be shared during the meeting. The rate study was conducted by Umbaugh, an Indianapolis firm.
