Plan commission changes meeting time, increases filing fee

The Salem Plan Commission’s meeting date remains the same for 2017 but its members will meet at an earlier time.

The commission had its first meeting of the year on Monday, Jan. 23.

In a unanimous vote, commission members opted to keep the same board structure for 2017, with Justin Green as president, Scott Nale as vice president and Norma Eisert as secretary.

Although the board will continue to meet on the fourth Monday of each month, the time was changed to a half hour earlier at 6:30 p.m.

The commission also voted unanimously to increase the filing fee for subdivision variances from $50 to $75.

The increase was recommended by Building Commissioner Ronnie Voyles, who said the change would bring the city’s fee in line with the fee charged by the county. The change is meant to prevent confusion when developers work with both the city and the county on projects.

The commission will meet next at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at city hall.
