Hambel trial underway

The trial of Joe Hambel, 30, who is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felony murder and one count of trespassing following the double killing August 2016, is underway today.

Before breaking for lunch, the jury heard opening statements from Prosecutor Dustin Houchin and defense attorney Mark Clark. Following that, they heard from Tonya Blevins, the 911 dispatcher who took the call soon before 1 a.m. on Aug. 20, 2016, and Philip D'Angelo, Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigator, who discussed the methods used to document the crime scene using a FARO laser scanner.

We will be posting an update following the second half of the day's trial proceedings.
