Federal funding now available to aid recovery efforts

Steve Davisson, State Representative District 7

Earlier this year, many Hoosiers faced historic levels of flooding, resulting in damage to homes, businesses and infrastructure.

With the president recently approving a major disaster declaration for Indiana, federal funding is now available to residents and business owners affected by the severe storms and flooding. Individual assistance is open to nine counties, while public assistance is open to 35.

Those in Clark and Harrison county who sustained losses due to the storms from Feb. 14 to March 4 can register for individual assistance by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov. Residents and business owners can also call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily to apply for assistance.

The money can help offset the cost of temporary housing and home repairs or provide low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses.

To complete the registration, you will need your social security number, annual household income, and insurance and bank account information.
