The Lady Senators got a win to celebrate their seniors on senior night. West Washington battled a senior laden team in Lanesville to a four set win on Tuesday. They won the first set 25-21. The Lady Eagles rallied to win the second set 25-18, but West Washington bounced back to win sets three and four 25-22, and 25-19 to close out the win.

In set number one West Washington took the lead early 11-4 before Lanesville cut into it and hung right with them at 13-11 then 21-21. Hayden Cress closed out the set though with a block at the net to giver her team the advantage.

Set number two was all Lanesville. The Lady Eagles took the lead 6-2 and never looked back to tie the match up at one a piece.

In the third set the Lady Senators got out in front early 9-3 and led the whole way. Lanesville tightened it up again at 23-22 but West Washington close it out with some big kills.

West Washington again jumped ahead early in the fourth set and cruised to 16-9 lead before closing out the set and the match.

Lady Senator Head Coach Meredith Hadley said her team knew they would have a fight on their hands with Lanesville. “We came into the game ready to have to fight for this. Lanesville is staked with seniors. We knew we would have to fight for it and stay consistent. The first set we came out a little flat. They made us fight for it. The second set we started off with four missed serves. We had to fight for that too and unfortunately they were able to pick up on our weaknesses and we couldn’t adjust. The seniors got us refocused in the third set and we were able to finish it out. We were aggressive in the fourth set and started to look like the team we’ve been wanting to see.”

Hadley said she liked what she saw from several of her players on Tuesday night. “Kassidy (Keltner) took charge at the net. She had multiple blocks. She had seven tonight by her self. AJ Combs helped out in the back row a lot. She was trying to get everybody talking again. Taylor (Foutch) and Allie (Chastain) were really hustling after the ball and they both were really consistent with their serves.”

West Washington will travel to Borden on Thursday night.
