The Salem High School Booster Club has been promoting a unique fundraiser this summer. Called "You Got Flocked!" it involves participants making a donation in exhange for having a flock of plastic pink flamingos placed in a friend or co-worker's yard.

The goal is to raise more than $900 to purchase a new Lion mascot. The old suit, which is at least 15 years old, is worn out and needs replaced. The new suit will feature a fan in the headpiece and a vest to hold cooling packs. The goal is to have the new Lion roaming the sidelines for this football season.

If you want to get in on the action, you have to hurry. Plans are to wrap up "You Got Flocked!" Aug. 1.

Donations of any amount are much appreciated and there's talk of a "Golden Flamingo" award to be presented to the top donor. Minimums are $10 to remove the flock from your yard, $15 includes reflocking and $20 will not only get the birds removed and placed elsewhere, but insures you won't get flocked again.

For more information, see tonight's Leader. To schedule a flocking, message the SHS Booster Club on Facebook, Instatram or Twitter.
