Nathaniel Endris

The Eastern track team has been a presence in the regional round for several years now, and one of those runners was Nathaniel Endris. Endris, along with several teammates were hoping to make a return trip to the Bloomington regional, and then hopefully book a ticket to IU for the state track meet. Instead they are left thinking about the races they could have run.

Endris had a very grounded reaction to hearing the season was over weeks before it was supposed to start. “My initial reaction to the season being canceled wasn’t too bad. I was sad, but knew life would go on…After the season was delayed and school was put online, I lost most of my hope that there would be a season.”

Eastern lost several senior contributors from the past season, but he didn’t expect that to deter them from having yet another successful season. Endris ran several events for the boys track team including the 400, 4x400 relay. He added he was looking forward to success in both events, but was really hoping to break a school record. “I planned to run the 400 and attempt to get the school record of 51.03 and possibly advance to the state track meet. I believe the team was as good as any year. We lost many great seniors last year, but I still believe we would have done just as well.”

Endris said he’s talked to some of his teammates since the season was canceled. When they talk about track they most talk about what the season could have looked like and the goals they wanted to accomplish.

One memory from last season at sectional was what stood out most in his mind Endris said. “By far one of the best experiences I’ve ever had was sectional my junior year. We were running the 4x400 relay and I was the last leg. I got the baton in 4th place and narrowly passed 3rd at the finish line, advancing the relay team to regionals.”

Running isn’t in the cards in the future for Endris. Instead he said he wants to focus on his school, and then his future career. Knowing he’s done after this has made it even harder. “It is kind of hard not having the last season of my running career as I’m not planning to run in college so that was really it. Now I’m focusing on my future career in the auto body field. I will be attending Vincennes University and majoring in Collision and Refinishing.
