NASCAR contest wk.1

Week one results in four-way tie

Martin Truex Jr. started off the NASCAR Chase for the Championship with a bang. The race looked like a game changer to pole sitter Clint Bowyer but it was not his day, he finished a meager 25th.

Other playoff contenders who didn’t fare so well include brothers, Kurt Busch who finished 39th and Kyle who crossed the line in the 19th spot. The other drivers in the Chase placed 15th or better.

Four of those who entered the Morgan’s Market Leader Publishing Chase for the Championship were overjoyed with Truex Jr. coming in first, as they start the contest off with one point. They are Norma Coats, Maurice Johnson, Nathon Wykoff and Mary Lou Denbo.

The remaining top 10 contenders were rewarded with two points when Kevin Harvick finished in second place. Those entrants are Adam Conklin, Owen Dixon, Julie Maudlin, Jackie Roberts, Debra Thompson and Chuck Walker.

The top four each have a different driver for next week. They will be rooting for Denny Hamlin, Kurt Busch, Kyle Larson and Harvick.

So look for next week’s results from Richmond to shake things up. The entrants are fighting for a $100, $50 or $25 gas card from Morgan’s Market. Watch the paper for weekly updates.
